DIY Therapeutic Sleepy Time Bath Salts

Ahhhh…. relaxing in the tub is one of my favorite ways to detox, especially after a long day of non-stop entertaining of a tiny little mini me. And let’s be truthful, 9 out of 10 baths I take, I see a naked little butt running into the tub before me in hopes to get some bath play time with mommy as well.
Oh the joys of motherhood, so dear to my heart.
One thing I love about bath time, is that it’s a a way to start calming down and getting ready for a good night’s rest. Getting a good night’s sleep is something that is extremely important for our health, mentally and physically. Which is why I have no problem sharing this time with my little girl (not that I really have a choice haha).
Of course, just like all my other bath salts, I am always sure to include my trusty epsom salts, baking soda, and some form of sea salt (I chose himalayan pink sea salt for this recipe). Along with a mixture of flowers, herbs, and essential oils. Be sure to buy high quality and organic herbs, flowers, & oils when using bath salts, you can find them here.

Lavender oil was a no brainer for me to add in to help promote a restful sleep. Another great thing about lavender oil is that is has strong antibacterial properties and is good for your skin. When adding lavender oil to a nice warm bath helps to relieve headaches and even help to slowly relieve anxiety or depression as well as helps to sooth an irritable child.
German Chamomile has been used for it’s sedative properties and other uses such as relieving eczema, hemorrhoids, mastitis, morning sickness, and many others. But the main thing we all know chamomile for is for it’s calming and relaxed state it can give us, which is why it makes a perfect herb to add into this sleepy time bath salts. Chamomile is also know to help remove redness of the skin, is highly anti inflammatory, anti allergy and is a healing herb. This herb works great for sensitive and irritated skin, or skin prone to acne.
DIY Sleepy Time Therapeutic Bath Salts
- In a food processor or blender, blend the chamomile and lavender flowers/buds until they become a powdery form. (You don’t have to make it a powder, I just find that it goes down the drain a lot easier in this form)
- add your salts and baking soda then blend for about 20-30 more seconds to crack the larger rocks.
- add your lavender EO mix with a large wooden spoon and pour into air tight container.
