Homemade Italian Breadcrumbs

Hello my hungry friends,

Today I want to share with you a recipe that is not only super easy & quick to make, but a fraction of the price than it’s store bought replica and minus all the preservatives and dare I even say HFCS….yes high fructose corn syrup is in many store bought brands unfortunately.

What I love about these bread crumbs is that we can utilize the one part of a loaf that no one seems to ever eat….the butts. Yes I see many friends and family members pass those nutritious slices in the trash all because….its a butt. But why pay for a product filled with artificial ingredients when you can just save what you don’t use and make something new out of it???

Adding your own Italian seasoning creates a super flavorful breadcrumb for all your future recipes. This recipe is a super simple and quick way to save a few extra bucks while keeping your family healthy! Instead of adding preservatives, just stick this jar into your freezer and save for future uses.

One thing this recipe does need are butts and lots of them…hopefully I am not offending anyone by calling the ends of the breads butts, its just something we always called them….anyways add your butts or even stale bread slices in a container and stick into the refrigerator until you get a good amount added up. Feel free to add buns, rolls, and type of bread, Ive even added pita before.

Once you have your stash, tear into pieces and stick into your food processor or blender. Add your spices and blend into tiny little breadcrumbs. And that’s it….too easy and too cheap to not be doing right??

  1. 5-8 slices of bread/rolls/buns
  2. 1 tsp rosemary
  3. 1 tsp garlic powder
  4. 1 tsp onion powder
  5. 1 tsp basil
  6. 1 tsp oregano
  7. 1/2 tsp thyme
  8. 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  9. 1/2 tsp salt
  10. 1/2 tsp pepper
  1. Tear bread into medium pieces.
  2. Place into food processor or blender
  3. Add spices
  4. Plus until fine
  5. Store in airtight jar

Use breadcrumbs immediately or store in airtight jar in your fridge or freezer. Breadcrumbs will stay fresh for a few months in freezer. Be sure to thaw for about 5 minutes if stored in freezer.
