Hello my hungry friends, Tomorrow is the Autumnal Equinox, and that marks the first day of fall. The leaves will start to turn, the nights will get longer and pumpkin will invade everything! Yes, the days of the beloved pumpkin are coming my friends. I want to let you in on my newest spice recipe before you start your autumn baking! Unless you’re like me and have already jumped in….it’s just so hard not to! Your typical pumpkin spice consists of four main ingredients:

  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • cloves
  • allspice
Some will add ginger to the mix as well. These are all fine and dandy however, lets step outside of our comfort zone and mix things up a bit just for fun! We can eliminate the allspice from our mix as this spice basically tastes like a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Lets go ahead and add some ginger now let’s try a really random spice….hmmmm. I got it! Coriander! Now that’s perfect, a wonderful little treat for the senses! What’s great about this spice is that it is so versatile that you can put it in almost anything to create a fall fun dish! I have tested this mix in oatmeal, spiced lattes, apple pies, and my most recent being my pumpkin apple muffins, which pleasantly surprised me of their deliciousness!

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Recipe


INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Tbsp Cinnamon*
  • 3 Tbsp Nutmeg*
  • 2 Tbsp Coriander*
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger*
  • 1 Tbsp Cloves*

*Grounded

METHOD

1. In a small mixing bowl, add all spices together and mix thoroughly (For added color add 1 Tbsp of Turmeric). 2. Funnel spice mixture into a air tight container and store in dark cool place.
