Namaste crunchy readers,

Berries make the top of the list when it comes to our favorite snack, these little guys are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, iron and so much more. Not to mention the long list of illnesses and diseases they aid in preventing!

 

However, berries are not always the cheapest snack nor are they long lasting. Not that Ava ever lets them go longer than half a week!! But not everyone is that way, in fact most people end up throwing away their berries due to mold (which is the worst!!). Alas, I have a solution for you! A super simple solution actually and only uses two ingredients!

Long Lasting Berry Soak


 

ingredients

  • 2 parts warm water
  • 1 part white vinegar
  • berries

method

  1. Buy berries and take home.
  2. Rinse your berries off and discard the molded berries (great for your compost). Add the good berries to a bowl that has your water and vinegar mixture and let soak for 3-5 minutes***.
  3. Drain and rerinse, lay on top of a towel to dry for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add to a bowl lined with a towel and refrigerate!!

I am not sure if you are suppose to use a lid or not, I personally do not use a lid because it’s easier to snack on that way.

Smaller berries like raspberries, blackberries and blueberries soak for 3, larger berries like strawberries soak for 5!

That’s it! These guys should go 1-2 weeks being refrigerated! Such a simple money saver huh? Are you a berry muncher or do you prefer a different snack to fill you up??
