Continuing on from our chakra series for meditation mondays!!
That is what our meditation will be focused on today! Our second energy center or chakra, located around the lower abdomen/genitals area is called the Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana). This can be associated with the color orange, and I believe is a very important chakra for women to have balanced. The sacral chakra is all about water & it’s flow, similar to our emotions. Not only limited to our emotions, the sacral chakra also includes our sensual side like:
A desire for warmth & touch should be as strong as our desire for nurturing and nourishment. As a new mother my desire for touch soon turned into an obsession to love & nurture my baby. A completely normal experience for mothers, however it is time for me to balance this chakra out. Now just so we get this straight, this is not a sex chakra….overindulgence is an imbalance & is not good spiritually, emotionally or…. well physically it is a nice work out so you got me there….but, you want BALANCE… too much or too little will have an effect on your health.
Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana)
Weekly Asana: Camel Pose (Ustrasana):
My vector today is illustrating that she is already rooted into the earth & has a range of beautiful emotions from her genitals, womb, & heart (even though there is a separate heart chakra) as well as a feeling of her soul inhaling the positive energy all around her & taking in the euphoric feeling. Being the sacral chakra is associated to the color orange, I went with a few different shades of the bright color. Hope you enjoy it!
How to achieve Camel Pose
While resting on your knees in a sitting/standing position, bring your hands to your buttocks and slowly to your ankles. While inhaling stretch your heart/chest towards the sky. Breathe in the positive energy! Don’t forget to focus on “I feel” …. I don’t need to tell you what you should be feeling, that is for you to decide. This pose can be held for 30 seconds to a minute or more. Listen to what your body is telling you, never force a pose, you will be able to achieve it with patience.
This is a great stretch pose as it opens up the chest, hips, groin & thighs as well as strengthen the back and arms. Camel Pose is a pose that I recommend putting in your morning routine as it energizes your whole body as well as wakens the mind. This pose is great for those of you who have problems with:
- respiratory system
- back pain
- digestive problems
- kidney problems
NOTE: if you are suffering with back injuries or blood pressure issues please do not attempt this pose.
Be sure to snap a photo & hashtag #omlivin of your yogi adventures! I would love to see your Spiritual side!
Chakras are such a beautiful topic to talk about, I decided to make my very first Vlog video about them! Please do enjoy this quick intro into the Chakras, have anything to add? Be sure to leave a comment for the community and myself! 🙂
PS: sorry I pronounce “chakras” super texan lol.
